Dr. Nordyke's Wound Honey With Aloe is used as a wound care topical that has natural antibacterial properties to assist in clearing infections and protect wounds from additional infections. Dr. Nordyke's Wound Honey has all natural ingredients. Pure Certified Active Manuka Honey, natural Aloe Vera, and Panthenol (vitamin B). The key ingredient in Dr. Nordyke's Wound Honey is Active Manuka Honey, imported directly from New Zealand. It is pure, natural, un-pasteurized, naturally organic honey that is collected from the un-cultivated Tea Tree Bush (Leptospermum) and extracted from the comb without heating.
Active Manuka Honey, now used in wound and burn care centers across the world, has antibacterial activity in two ways. Active Manuka Honey contains proteins and enzymes that are both antibacterial and antiviral, by releasing hydrogen peroxide on contact, killing germs and providing oxygen to speed up wound healing. Active Manuka has an added factor that helps fight both bacteria and viruses, that is only found in Active Manuka, which comes from the un-cultivated Tea Tree Bush Leptospermum. It is effective against staph, strep and the super bugs MRSA and VRE.
Dr. Nordyke's Wound Honey contains natural Aloe Vera, a known anti-inflammatory and is known to be a natural emollient and antiseptic. It is used for skin conditions such as eczema, burns and minor cuts. The beneficial properties of natural Aloe Vera are attributed to the mucopolysaccharides that are found in the inner gel of the aloe leaf. Dr. Nordyke's Wound Honey also contains Panthenol, a non-irritating form of vitamin B which has moisturizing properties. When this natural, hydrating vitamin is applied externally it penetrates into the lower skin layer, gets absorbed into the skin cells and turns into pantothetic acid (also known as Vitamin B).
Because Panthenol is absorbed deeply into the skin, it adds essential moisture and has a desirable plumping effect. Dr. Nordyke's Wound Honey is sterilized by gamma irradiation to block out any opportunistic pathogens. Being sterilized does not change the characteristics of the Wound Honey, nor the Active Manuka Honey. Active Manuka Honey contains proteins and enzymes that are antibacterial and antiviral releasing hydrogen peroxide on contact, killing germs and providing oxygen to speed up wound healing.
Gently wash area with water or saline. Let dry. Apply light layer of Wound Honey. Repeat for twice daily applications.
Dr. Nordyke's Wound Honey is used externally for wound care when dealing with wounds, burns, MRSA infected or staph wounds, diabetic wounds, diabetic ulcers, bed and pressure sores, post op wounds, and to prevent ugly scars, just to name a few.
Gently wash the wound with a saline wash, let dry for a few minutes. Apply Wound Honey directly to the wound completely covering the wound. Cover with a non stick dressing or gauze. Repeat every twelve hours, including fresh dressing, until the wound is fully healed.
If a wound has a mal oder the wound is infected. You can expect the mal odor to subside after 5-10 days of using Wound Honey, depending on the depth and size of the wound. That is approximately how long it takes to clear up the infection. As always, it is recommended that you check with your doctor, and always continue to take any prescribe antibiotics that your doctor has recommended. It is recommended to continue using Dr. Nordyke's Wound Honey even after your wound has completely healed, for several weeks, to reduce and minimize scaring.
